Someone at City Hall who’s worked on a set
Where they stand
Karen Bass
Opposed
Nithya Raman
Supports
Appoint someone with real production experience as the liaison between City Hall and the film industry, with an open comment line anyone in the industry can use.
What’s the problem?
When something goes wrong on a shoot in LA, it’s hard to know who at City Hall to call. And the people writing the rules don’t always know how a set actually runs.
The fix
A dedicated liaison who has worked in production, reporting to the Mayor’s office. An open comment line lets anyone in the industry flag a problem or pitch a fix, and the liaison reports publicly on what comes in and what changes.
How would it affect me?
If you work on a crew
A real person to call, who knows what a call sheet is.
If you’re a producer
One point of contact for problems that cross city departments.
If you work at City Hall
Rules shaped by someone who’s been on a set.
In plain English
Adopting this means
- A City Hall liaison with production experience
- An open comment line for the industry
- Public reports on what comes in and what gets fixed
It doesn’t mean
- Replacing FilmLA or the city’s permit offices
